‘I feel like giving up’ these were the words I uttered yesterday as I almost missed my bus. My house is about 4 minutes away from the bus stop and for some reason I was super late. My bus was supposed to leave at 10:30 but at 10:28 I was still wearing my shoes 😳.. Now if you know anything about living in Europe, you’d know that taxis are expensive and isn’t always an option.
Anyway, I heard myself utter those words to my husband but I didn’t give up….instead I just picked my jacket and ran out. Thankfully, the bus was about a minute late so I made it.Phew😅 .
After I made the bus, I missed my next connection because the driver was a bit slow😒.. It literally just seemed like everything was against my going to church but I did not give up. It wasn’t even an option.. I was going to go to church, period! The next connection required a 14 minute walk and by the time I got to church, I was late and exhausted 😅 but it was worth it. It was worth it because I received what God had in store for me.
It was so worth it. How many times do we miss God because we give up just at the end? God’s ways are not always easy but will you continue? Will you be faithful? Will you see that project through till the end?
My message today is very simple, are you feeling like giving up? Do you feel like you won’t be able to make it? Do you like me, feel like you are too late? DON’T GIVE UP! The bus might just come one minute late.
Psalm 104 :19 tells us “He appointed the moon for seasons; The sun knows its going down”.
He still has time and seasons in His hands. It might be difficult but you will eventually get there. Keep running, keep going!
To be like Jesus is our destiny and one of the things that has been highlighted was Jesus’s ability to communicate truth laced with grace while He was in his physical body.
It is easy to tell what is wrong but how about instead of coming off as judgemental, we speak the truth in love and mercy.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth-John 1:14
We are to live for His glory and one of the ways to do this is to be full of grace and truth like He was. Most of us are full of ‘truth’ but where is the grace? Where is the mercy? We are so harsh and judgemental towards one another, it is almost like we are waiting for one another’s downfall. Are we not ONE body? Whether it’s the church in China, United kingdom or in Nigeria are we not siblings of the same Father?
Blessed are the merciful,For they shall obtain mercy-Matthew 5:7
Also many times we are so harsh with our judgements and even judge unbelievers based on Biblical standards when they are not even subject to those standards. (The unbeliever is dead and cannot live by the Spirit). We judge others whilst we forget to judge ourselves.
When we forget we have been saved by grace through faith, it is so easy to judge people forgetting that the mercy of God is the only thing keeping you from falling.
This is not a post to deter you from speaking the truth. By all means please speak the truth but please speak it to yourself and your brother or sister in the body, with the motive of love and be kind while you do it.
Ultimately, the it is the Holy Spirit that transforms a heart and not just words. Judge yourself and speak the truth in love.
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one-Colossians 4:6
Maybe that situation is not changing because you keep speaking what is happening instead of what you want to see. Maybe your life sucks because you keep confessing how much it sucks. Maybe you make stupid decisions because you keep saying ‘I’m so stupid’. Fam, read your Bible and speak only what it says. If God is not saying a thing, you shouldn’t be saying it either.
Change your thinking with God’s word. Change your speech with His word and change your life with God’s word.
Reposted from @dailybitewithjesus ‘ So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them’- Mark 11:23-24
You will be confused about your life and your identity if you spend all your time with people, Netflix and the pleasures of this world. You won’t be able to hear God speak. In hearing and knowing God, you will know yourself.
This is because we find ourselves in Him. Without Jesus, this life just leads to death and more death. Spend time with God and find yourself. You wil be pleasantly surprised.
‘For in him we live and move and exist’ – Acts 17:28a
“There is a way that seems right to a man,But its end is the way of death” – Proverbs 14:12
You are not here to fit in. You are here to stand out and shine your light.
Through our Father’s words to us, we are to change our thought patterns to conform to the patterns of our home planet. Heaven is our home. Where God is, is home. You are not from here. Stop thinking like the people from here. You should have a different culture, ideology and language.
Even if you do not agree at first, we are required to bring every contrary idea under the lens of God’s word. Let Him change those things in your mind that are anti-Christ.
How will you represent our home planet if you keep behaving, dressing and talking like the people from here? You can’t be cussing like everyone else, showing your private body parts like everyone else, getting drunk and reviling like the people of tbis world and expect to be Jesus’s ambassador. Don’t deceive yourself. God cannot be deceived. You are either a Christian or not.
You are a called out person. Act like it. Be separate.
‘And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues’- Revelations 18:4
‘Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls’- 1 Peter 2:11
Oh what joy we would have if we really believed that God is for us and not against us.
What joy we would have if we knew that our Father is able to make ALL things ( good or bad) work together for good.
Anxiety would leave and panic attacks would cease if we would just rest in the knowledge of the truth that Daddy is good!
How can we enter into this? Think about His goodness. Meditate and ask the Holy Spirit to show you.
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness. Psalm 145:5-7
I remember a time when I use to think that the Christian’s life should be perfect. No battles to work through but instead just be singing ‘kumbaya’ as you walk through life 😂. What a fallacy!
God did not promise us an easy life. What He promised us is victory. He also promised that He will be with us and never ever leave.
Now this is what the Lord says — the One who created you, Jacob, and the One who formed you, Israel — “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you. Isaiah 43:1-2 (HCSB)
This frankly is our confidence. That no matter what He allows to come our way, He – our loving Father- is with us through it all. Oh what a blessing it is to know God personally 😊.. Thank you Lord Jesus for making the way to Him.
So if you don’t know Jesus personally, this is a good place to mention that you need Him and life is really just impossible without Him. Forget what you see on social media. The devil is busy wrecking lives and sadly people don’t even know who to blame. They think it is God. God is a good loving Father that wants a personal relationship with you which will only happen when you invite Him into your life through Jesus. A personal relationship is not the same as religion. Religion is very boring but a relationship is so interesting and alive.. You really should consider. Think about it.
We neee to build character , infact people will know we are God’s children by our fruits (our character) (Matthew 7:15-20,Galatians 5:22-23). They will know us by how we relate with people, how we carry ourselves and how we treat humanity.
However, God hasn’t called us to live in timidity and fear. We are called to live not intimidated by this world. Why should you be ashamed to say you are a virgin? Why should you be ashamed to say you don’t watch movies with cursing and perversion? The world lives with open defiance to God. You should live with open obedience to God.
Every opportunity to interact with non-believers should be seen as an opportunity to show them the Father’s heart. A simple ‘Can I pray with you?’ is enough. When we obey God, He enables us walk in the power of the Spirit. But if we live in fear and timidity of what the world will say or how we look to the world, we won’t be able to display His power and authority. We will constantly be tormented by the fear of man.
When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (NLT)
Life is difficult and although most of us are blessed with family and friends but it is still not enough because nothing, absolutely nothing can replace our need for God.
God doesn’t want you controlled by fears and burdens. He wants you fixed on Him as He takes those things that weigh you down away. He has purchased your freedom child of God. Drop the burden at His feet by talking to Him and speaking His word to yourself.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
