Looking for Joy?

Over the past few weeks, it has been somewhat difficult to pin point what exactly the Lord has been teaching me. However, today as I sat in His presence I got to 1 Thessalonians 5:16 “rejoice always and delight in your faith”, it struck me that I hadn’t been dwelling so much on my challenges and problems. Instead I had been unconsciously  focused on building my relationship with Jesus and living everyday as it came.

The following verses of 1 Thessalonians say “be unceasing and persistent in prayer; 18 in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus“(17-18)(AMP)

God’s will is not for you to be depressed and constantly unhappy .I believe that His will is that you delight in Him, which will produce joy in your heart.

So today, are you unhappy? Is your heart heavy with financial or relational  issues? Focus on the Jesus and find your Joy in Him.

See what Paul had to teach the early church amidst persecutions

Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, take pleasure in Him]; again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4 AMP)

Let Jesus be your delight and Joy. Focus on Him.

Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength“. (Nehemiah 8:10b NKJV)

Now, I am not saying that you will always be happy, as the term “happiness” is a result of an external factor. For example, you can be happy after accomplishing set goals for the day. However, joy is a constant phenomenon. It is tied to nothing except the fact that Jesus loves and lives in you. So let’s not confuse happiness for joy.

Having said that, are you trying to find joy in people? Relationships? Success? I am sorry but it’s not there, you would not find  it.

Joy can only be found in Jesus! The Messiah! The Saviour! This might be cliché but really today is your day because He wants you to receive  Joy.

He wants you to stop wallowing in depression because He loves you.

Give yourself to Him today.

You are loved.
