Seeing with the eyes of God

I moved to a different country a few months ago and it was wonderful to be here for about the first 3 months. This was followed by culture shock. I began to feel lonely and sad. The shock of a different national language, lack of family and friends nearby. I missed speaking English with random people on the street, I missed eating Nigerian food like Abacha and Amala. I missed my parents, siblings and friends. I missed what I was used to. The change was hard and I was sad. I thought of visiting Nigeria but it didn’t make sense to run back to the familiar just because I was feeling challenged. My prayer life took a dip and it became a struggle to pray.

Then Daddy God, the Father of my Lord Jesus Christ, the one who loves me more than anyone will ever love me, stepped in as if to say ‘Favour Enough!’.
This was followed by His orchestrating things and timing to enable me engage in daily prayer with two of His daughters. My prayer life gradually returned with this exercise. To His glory, prayer time no longer feels like religion. I love it!

I tell you Fam, prayer changes things it. It is not a cliché. Additionally, godly friendships are a gift. Trust me, we need to be intentional about our friendships even now more than ever.

Psalm 1:1-3 (HCSB)
How happy is the man
who does not follow the advice of the wicked
or take the path of sinners
or join a groupof mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction,and he meditates on it day and night.He is like a tree planted beside streams of waterthat bears its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.Whatever he does prospers.

Is change now easy for me? No.. Not yet and I honestly don’t know if will ever be easy. Are my challenges still there? Yes! However, I can now see clearly. I see with the eyes of my Lord Jesus that everything will be okay. I am not sad, unhappy or depressed anymore. I am content.

Congratulations: You are a Candidate

Recently, I have been learning that God truly uses normal people to achieve His purposes. The individuals that most people would write off as “useless”, “No future Ambition”, and those people are the ones that God uses.

Moses:

Moses was murderer and if he lived in this generation, he would probably be sentenced to life imprisonment or would have been killed. That same Moses, God gave a new identity and a significant role in His plan. (Exodus 2-3)

Rehab:

Rehab was a prostitute (Joshua 2). Maybe she would have been a Cam-girl, Porn star or a Sugar baby if she lived in this generation. However, that former prostitute became a great grandmother of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5). Imagine all the people that would have doubted her when God decided to turn her life around.

See, it is not of Him that wills or run. It is the Lord that shows mercy (Romans 9:16). All this talk about Kanye West, has God not done it before? Kanye is in fact the perfect candidate to be used by God since God qualifies the Called. Time fails me to talk about the story of Saul to Paul. Please read it in the book of Acts. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO BE LOVED BY GOD. Just give Him your life and watch Him transform it to something beautiful.

It doesn’t matter if you sold drugs, were involved in immoral and perverse acts. As long as you acknowledge, receive Jesus Christ into your life as God and give yourself to Him completely you are a candidate.  You are not too bad, you are not too broken. You are the perfect candidate. God is looking for normal, regular people. He is looking for you.

My Story:

When God called me in 2014, I could hardly believe it since I am not special or holy. In fact many times in the first two and a half years of University, I didn’t go to church (yikes my pastor parents will see this) or think too much about God. I did some of the things, teens would usually do.  I had a five year plan and somehow wanted to join Nigerian politics and be the first female president. I am not super smart, you could say I am regular. I couldn’t understand why the God of the universe would choose to use this broken, battered girl. However, God is merciful and it is not about what you do or do not do. It is about His goodness. Today, I am here and I am actively working on my salvation. The difference between the years before 2014 and now, is the fact that I know I am loved by my Father, the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ and one day I will tell my story in greater detail J

If you are scared to surrender, just know that you are not that bad. You are a candidate to bring greatness and hope to the world. You too can be used by God.

You are loved.

Why you should stop saying things you don’t mean

My first lesson on saying things I don’t mean happened some time in 2010..My fist year of University. If you are Nigerian, you know how there is a culture of ‘come and join me’ when eating, even if most people don’t mean it. So having recently moved to Kenya that year, I was elated to discover an ice cream shop which quickly became my go to shop for junk food. One evening after my class and going to shop for my beloved icecream and fries, I balanced in my room to eat when a lady came to hangout.

The Nigerian in me invited her to join me even though I didn’t mean it. She was like ‘oh yeah, sure’. You should have seen my face, it had a mixture of shock and sadness😲😵 lol. I had invited her and I couldn’t take back my invitation so I had to share. I must say that it didn’t feel good. It didn’t feel good not because I was selfish but because I was hungry and I didn’t really want to share, I just invited the lady out of courtesy. Well I learnt my lesson and pretty much stopped saying things I didn’t mean.

Recently, God dropped it in my heart to remind us that saying things we don’t mean doesn’t reflect our Father God. You know He is the God that says a thing and does it and if you claim to be His child then it is important to walk in His steps. We are ambassadors of God on planet earth, we are in the world but not of the world. We Must Represent Our Father. So if you are in the business of saying things you don’t mean, it’s time to stop and really mean what you say. Don’t follow the crowd or culture. Our culture should be based on the kingdom.

Basically, you should stop saying things you don’t mean because you will eventually get frustrated and it doesn’t reflect God.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (VOICE)
22 then you know to take off your former way of life, your crumpled old self—that dark blot of a soul corrupted by deceitful desire and lust— 23 to take a fresh breath and to let God renew your attitude and spirit. 24 Then you are ready to put on your new self, modeled after the very likeness of God: truthful, righteous, and holy.

Your life, His life

Dear sister whose motivation success according to the standard of the world.
I wish I could tell you that it is all about you but that would be a lie.
Dear sister that wants to be quickly successful
I wish I could tell you that it will happen so fast but that would be a lie.
Life is a marathon and your life should be about Jesus

~~~~ Dear brother, whose game plan is to be rich
I wish I could tell you it would come as fast as you want it to happen, but that would be a lie.
Dear brother, who is getting frustrated because your dreams are not seeming to come as quick as you want it to happen.
I wish I could tell you to find your solution else where but that would be deceit.
Because your life should be about Jesus
~~~ Why sister? Why brother?
Because you have been bought with a price and your life is no longer yours.
Because your life is in the hand of the Master Planner who is planning everything for your good.

~~~ Your are brother or sister because you are part of the family of the Lord Jesus.
Because your Daddy has your best interest at heart.
Because your Daddy knows how to take of you in grand style.
You are brother or sister because you are loved.
~~~ So my brother, my sister
Calm down and pursue Him
Let Him be your sole purpose
Let Him be your reason to live

~~~ Then there will be no need to hurry for wealth or for fame
As your sole purpose purpose will be to bring Him glory.
When those things come, you will be free.
~~~ You will be free to bring Him glory
You will be free to be His ambassador
You will be free from the validation of men.
You will be free brother
You will be free sister

Self-love or selfishness?

What we call selflove many times is selfishness. I am not saying you shouldn’t love yourself, please by all means love yourself but love the Lord God with all your heart first.

Why do we sometimes engage in what is not pleasing to God? Because we are selfish. Humans are generally selfish and sometimes acts that seem selfless are done from a selfish motive.

Why do people engage in perversion? Because they felt like it? Or why do people commit murder? Because they were offended or Angry? The reason for many evils on our planet is because “someone wants to’ or ‘has been pushed to’. It is always about ‘Me’ or ‘I’. ‘I am hungry’ so I will rob or sleep with married men to get money. She looked at me in a way I don’t like, therefore ‘I will deal with her’. I will commit abortion because I don’t want the baby, I will do this and that because it pleases me.

Any act that doesn’t seek to bring Glory to God is sinful. So if you are struggling to break an addiction to porn, food, sex as a Christian and the only reason you want to break free of those is for your own ‘good’, then you probably will struggle for a long time. But if you are trying to break whatever addiction so that the will of God can be done, then expect the help of God because the Motive is for His glory.

For God, the means is just as important as the end. So why do you keep asking God for the answer to that prayer, is it to show off? To feel like ‘you have also arrived’? Or to glorify God? If your answer is not coming you might need to check your motive.

If you claim to be a Christian – child of God, then your life is not about you. It is about your Lord and master – Jesus Christ.

‘In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood’. Hebrews 12:4

May God help us live totally for His glory in Jesus name. Amen.

Dear young minister,

Just because you are called doesn’t mean you are entitled to anything. David was already anointed by Samuel when he started working with Saul yet several times in 1 Samuel 18, it is stated that he conducted himself more wisely than all his colleagues in the Palace.

You are entitled to anything. You are not entitled to people calling you reverend, papa(mama), sir (ma). You are not entitled to people giving you gifts. We grow into these things. As one of my elders would say, the pudding is in the eating. Whether anyone calls you ma or sir, it doesn’t change the fact that you’ve been anointed by God. Some of us are so power drunk that we think that being called is a license to talk to people anyhow. It is not about power, respect or influence.
Being called by God is a call to servant hood!

It is serving Him and shining His light to humanity. It is not about you and the respect you get in the eyes of men. It is about the knowledge and life of God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
When you grow, you won’t have to remind people to refer to you as sir or ma. You won’t have to force people to honour you. It will happen because your growth will demand it. Calm down and grow.

Thank You Creator

T. H. A. N. k Y. O. U
Why do we need to say thank you Jesus ?
Is it because of the good health that you can have that you cannot give yourself?
Is it because you are alive and not dead? Is it because of the hope that you have? Since where there is life there is hope?
Is it because even though you’ve been challenged you’ve not drowned in your challenges?

Is it because you’ve been called beloved of God?
Is it because we have victory in Jesus Christ?
Is it because the enemy, the devil and his cohorts have been shamed and embarrassed?
Why exactly do we need to thank God?

Perhaps it is because you have a good job or are able to fend for yourself?
Then should the people who are struggling in work life not thank God?
Perhaps it is because your marriage is working so well. But should the sister whose marriage has just crashed not thank God?

Should I thank God because He has given me a big car or a big house?
Should I only thank God when I celebrate the number of my years on the planet?
Should He thank God because He is a Father and has been able to father 5 boys?

Shouldn’t the maker of the universe be thanked because He is God?
Isn’t the Maker and Creator of all things deserving of all praise and glory?
Isn’t the One who is all good entitled to praise and glory from His creation?
Isn’t one who is good whether life is good to us or not, worthy of all adoration?

So like ‘Casting Crowns’ , I will praise Him in the storm.
I will live my life for His glory because He is worthy.
Because He is awesome in power and majesty.
Because He is the Lord of all glory and the king of Kings.
Yes I will thank God because He is God.

Who needs an alarm when we have the Holy spirit?

Hello y’all,
How have we been? It’s been a while right? Forgive me, lots on my plate these days. Anyhu, today I want to share about the only true Spirit – The precious Holy Spirit.

I usually wake up at night to pray but this past week was super busy for me and I was looking for ways to excuse myself from waking up at night to do my devotion. So one day, I turned my alarm off and asked the Lord to wake me up at 4.00am (I secretly hoped He wouldn’t😅). By 3.53 I was awake lol and of course I had to do my devotion. Last night, I was getting convicted about somethings and as I apologised to the Lord, I asked him to wake me up at 3:30..I was awake at 3:29.lol..what are the odds?
Before you start analysing and thinking ‘oh what a coincidence’ I must tell you that there are no coincidences with God. The Creator of the universe who planned and created the known and unknown universe does not do coincidences. He is a deliberate God. Read your Bible.

As my Daddy would say, for a Child of God there are no coincidences but only Godincidences. My alarm experience is a small thing, imagine what the Holy Spirit can do for you if you involve Him in every aspect of your life. He is interested in working in and with you, why don’t you let Him in today?

Please don’t do it

Are you about to give up on your walk with God? Please don’t. Jesus didn’t promise us a smooth journey but He promised to send us the Helper. He told us the road is narrow (Matthew 7:13-14). A narrow road is generally uncomfortable as you might sometimes have to brush shoulders with other people or against the wall, you might have to wait for one car to pass before it’s your turn to drive. There is usually not enough space to be comfortable.

We are soldiers called to stand in the place of victory that has been won by our Commander the Lord Jesus Christ. Soldiers are barely concerned about comfort. They endure all that they need to in order to ensure that the outcome is victory. You are God’s soldier. You are God’s battle axe. So therefore, having done all to stand, Keep standing!

‘I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world’ – John 16:33

God has not called us to conform and be comfortable in this world. He has called us to stand out and trust Him. Challenges are very normal and the Holy Spirit is here on planet earth to help and provide support if you will let Him. In the words of Deitrick Haddon ‘Don’t give up on God, cause He won’t give up on you, He is able!’

What are you eating?

‘I need to start eating healthy’. If you are like me, you’ve thought that many times and have even started taking steps to take better care of your body but what about you as a spirit? Someone wiser than me said that we are ‘spirits having a human experience’.

Basically we are more spirit than human and should take care of ourselves as spirits just as much as we take care of our bodies. John the apostle was writing to one of his friends and he said ‘Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit‘ 3 John 1:2(NLT) ..
So I’d like to ask you the same today, I hope you are healthy in body as you are strong in spirit?

You are probably wondering how our topic today relates to your spirit? Do you know that what you eat affects your heart and organs just as what you see, and listen to affects you as a spirit? This is why we are encouraged to guard our hearts deligiently (Proverbs 4:23) because your heart can either make or mar you.

See, if all you do is scroll through Instagram and compare yourself and your life with others, you are going to be sad and depressed for a very long time. If all you do is watch documentaries on how people are raped, kidnapped or suffering, you are going to be in constant fear being tormented by what you’ve allowed into your heart.

So I ask you again, what are you eating? Are you feeding yourself on God’s word, are you listening to music that glorify God or the problems that you have? Do you listen to people who constantly bring negativity to you? What are you feeding yourself?

My charge to you today is to eat and feast on God’s word as much as you can. Thankfully today, technology has made everything easy, you can listen to your audio Bible, music that glorfify God and read e-books. If you have been blessed with spirit filled convenant friends you also have positive influence around you. Please tap into that and be free from torment. God has given you your life as a gift and it is worth living.
Live it and love it!
